Wow you guys are great! At least you understand. I have been boring people at home with my India stories and I know they are like oh heres another one. But then I also get frustrated because when I tell them things they obviously just dont get and say things like "cool" in that monotone voice. Suitcase you totally make sense and I agree with everything you say. I guess it just comes down to the fact that I am bored with my life here and while I was in India I felt totally alive and even on the days where I did nothing I wasn't bored like I am here. Well thanks everyone for the moral support. i really appreciate it.

Thumbs up Jenny Returns

Jenny:

Wow! You have racked up so much emotion by your posting. First, I usually get depressed for some three weeks upon return. But then after that I readjust to life here in the US.

Second, it is so expensive to travel that it takes me some time to get back. that is just me but right now I have th urge to get back. I always wondered with such volume travel why airline companies don't provide far more compettive sale prices like they do for European destinations.

But you know what? You ahve infected me to seriously look at getting back. Can I pass my hat for any contributions???

Thanks for the great thread

"In india you couldn't ... ..."

"Now in India they always ... ..."

"If you were in India... ..."

"What do mean it's hot today? In India ... ..."

Yes, I guess we can be pretty boring

In fact I suppose we become the modern-day equivalent of the old British Colonial Colonel stereotype who prefaces everything, "When I was in India..."

No....! We would never do that when in India

Spot-on though Nick... Don't you hate yourself sometimes when you do that? I mean imagine yourself going on "Well back in Baden-Württemberg..." (Don't even start about the pretzels and kuchen.)

But, being in India, I have to admit to the occasional...

"In UK that would cost... ..."

"In UK we can leave the tap running... ..."

"In UK we would have to wear... ..."

Great advice Suitcase, many wise words there.

I've always been one to appreciate each day and felt quite blessed to live in such a wonderful country as Australia, but then.........I went to India!! It's a country that resonates so much more with me, and like Jenny felt, I too felt ALIVE like I've never felt before. So on return, everthing felt really flat and black and white. So now I'm racking my brains to think of a way that I too can combine the pleasure of adventures in India with working there.

I really can't imagine there being any other websites dedicated to addictions to other countries!? I just wish I'd fallen in love with India 10 years ago, but then I guess you only discover things when you're ready for them.

I experienced such a depression when I came back from India. I didn't know if I would be able to get back, but knew I would if the opportunity presented. Got into living and working in the present, thought I was readjusted. Then opportunity opened up again and the means to go back presented itself. What bliss!! I can't believe how much my spirits have lightened and my energy has come charging back in the few short weeks since I found out I could come back to India. I didn't get over the depression-just got used to functioning with it! Got so many things to get sorted out by September, every day is wonderful. Not so much time to hang out at India Mike though. It's been a lifeline for me.

Hi Jennyji Don't worry, you're not the only one who's jealous. I think all of us who are yearning to go back to India can relate. No-one who hasn't had the Indian experience can understand why when we come back home, are in a hurry to get back. It's too special to try and put into words, altho some people on IM have achieved just that!!! At least you have your memories and the excitement of planning your next trip.
