Working in South India?
Hello all,
For some time now, I've been wondering whether I could live in South India before retirement, but don't really have a clue how to go about getting a position. I don't work for a big company that suddenly needs managers to oversee offshoring projects so I guess I either need to approach agencies or big companies directly. Does anyone have any advice / experience? I'm an IT professional by trade but would consider any supervisory / managerial role. I would prefer to work for a western organisation but would consider an Indian organisation if anyone can point me in the right direction. Appreciate it's a bit vague but I haven't got a clue where to start looking. Oh, and just for the record, the Mrs is an Indian citizen so I presume that would help? Thanks, Graeme |

Put your resume on Indian job portals like monster, naukri, timesjobs. Get in touch with HR consultants who help firms in recruiting. Get in touch with your friends who are in the same field. The usual stuff.

yes, naukri.com, monster.com are good places to find jobs in India. Im also trying to find a new job in south india, and its proving to be a lot harder than I thought. Even getting a response from sending my cv is difficult. I thought initially that it was because Im foreign and maybe I didnt get taken seriously or companies are hesitant to hire someone who isnt indian. But now I have been working here for a year, so Im no stranger to India or its customs, but still I dont even get responses, let alone interviews.
Just be aware that it may not go smoothly. If your wife is Indian your best bet may be to see if she has any family connections that may help you out. Also IT is huge and companies are screaming for experienced people, so that may help you also. |
