by the way, is the average salon or spa in India expensive to visit? and are the salons and spas luxurious in India?

Expensive? If you take the per capita income or whatever, prohibitive

The more swanky ones can consume the per capital annual in a few days.

well for instance in europe you pay an average of 40 euros for a facial. A massage for instance around 60 euros (depending on the salon, home-salon or big organisation).

But I have no idea what an average price in India would be. I think, and that is in Europe and in the USA too, that when you go to a luxury Spa or salon, that you pay a lot more.

And in addition is an avarage spa modern, trendy and luxurious with electric chairs and an exclusive design, and so on? or are the salons more like a salon with a simple wooden table and some cosmetics and oil and thats it?

if i remember correectly a facial is close to 800 or so...but im not a 100% and it would depend on the place one goes to.

if haircuts give you some reference point, then Mrs P goes to a relatively expensive saloon and pays about 300 INR for a cut which i have consistently failed to notice and something which i have been reminded about frequently..

Shes hold 300 INR as reasonable, for me it means about 10 haircuts through my local barber (head banging included)

I think that 800 here in europe more or less the same price is. But 300 for a haircut is very cheap. My girlfriend once paid around 3000 INR for a haircut inclusive colour, hair wash and so on. And it wasn`t even an exclusive baber. well I said to her that she was a bit crazy, but the result was ... how should I say .... very very good

but how about the interior of a barber? Do they for example use expensive equipment?

Depends on the place again. With ref to Mrs Puchoo's saloon they have leather chairs which tend to move around in all directions, seperate rooms for massages , makeup, waxing etc. Marble flooring, inbuilt ceiling lights, background music , expensive and top brand fittings , lakme, loreal products all over the place...
...my barber on the other hand has a comb, a scissor a razor , a tap and a creaking fan....and i still prefer him!

haha idd. Its the result thats counts!
ah ok, but on the other hand, the place that Mrs. P goes to sounds also very nice. If she perhaps has some more info about other salons, I would like to hear it Its sounds to me that she is an expert in visiting salons

how is the weather @ your place ?

Ill check with her in the evening , but she's been to many and finally settled down with this one (its called Harry and Shanti btw) a few years back (shes was not Mrs P then..), says they are one of the best short of visiting a 5 star.

Weather, its HOT! 38 degrees or so and it will scale up to 45-47 degrees over the coming weeks...

Catching up late... Hi all...
As an example, I paid 1,200 Rs in Mysore last november for :
shampoo + haircut + facial + manicure.
It was a set price for the lot ; it would have been more expensive individually.
It was in the sort of place Mrs. Puchoo goes to, marble, leather chairs. But very small (3 chairs !), in a place no bigger than a corridor, overlooking a beauty shop. So on the one hand people watch you get your hair cut, but on the other hand you get to watch the lady customers, which in Mysore means a permanent fashion show (sari-wise).
The equipment, though not the latest trend in combs and gel and such, was very good. The style you'd find in any independent hairdresser in Europe.
As a reference, in France I usually pay 39 € for shampoo + haircut and 12 € for a manicure + polish (17 € for a "French" manicure). (In Poland, divide by 2 ...)
Hair colouring will usually multiply by 3 the hairdresser's bill.
