Hi Umber here from China,

I have just been offered a job in bangalore, just curious is it a safe enough place for a single female to live in ? I 'm always hearing about women getting molested in Indian states, how worried about this should i be ? And yes if there is anyone who is a long term expat in Bangalore please contact me, i have to give an answer to my future boss this week.

Hi Umber...
AM from Bangalore. Work scene in Bangalore is quite good. And about molestation of women here, is not true. Its quite a safe city and you would find a lot of single women living n workin here. so i guess, you know what you could answer your boss!!!
cheers

Bangalore is as safe as it gets

I have been in Bangalore for about 5 years now and from all my collegues and relatives, I am told that this is the most safest place that they have been in India.

Last week at about 12.30 in the night, I had seen off a close freind of mine (single white lady) alone in an auto. Not many places in India that you can do that without worrying too much.

There are many expats who I work with, from all over the world who enjoy there stay here very well. If you are still worried, I can pm you the mail id of a freind of mine (chinese single girl) who was living here for couple of years but now has moved to Singapore.

As someone else mentioned before, start packing. Same advice from me too.

Don't worry umber, u'll blend in, irrespective of whichever race u r. Of all the cities, apart from goa may be, Bangalore is most receptive to foreign tourist, what with easy accessibility to bars and pubs and the weather. So you won't find any problem here. About going alone in an auto at 12 pm in the night.. well... i won't advice you to do that. Even if its safe.. its better not to take any chances. But nothing to get alarmed. Since Bangalore developed as an IT hub, hordes of ppl both guys/gals hv moved in, and most of them are young and single. So you will find probably a lot of girls like you living alone.
So leave your worries over there in Singapore and jump in . .. you are most welcome.

Cheers

Single Girl's Guide to Bangalore

Ok as many single girls are coming to Bangalore, here is an interesting article from Times of India

Single Girl's Guide to Bangalore

I do not endorse their recommendations (as I am not a single girl ), but shall wait for star C and natasha to commment upon the same from the girl's perspective

I agree, Sudheer.
Indiatimes, whoever wrote that article doesn't deserve the money you gave him / her!
Koshi's for chinese??? Give me a break!!!

And girls, just for the info, Sudheer and me are the official Bangalore IM hosts. So any help you need, just mail us. Also, Sudheer is the resident "chinese expert" here. Please look up his public profile to see what I mean. Not that i approve, but he happens to love China just a wee bit more than he does India. So that should give you some common grounds.

Hope you have a good time here.

Just for the record I have not bribed natasha to say that

But between me and natasha, I still think Vinayverma knows Bangalore better.

And where is Star C, not to be seen online in the last few days at Bangalore.. For the records our friend is saying good bye this saturday and I am leaving on friday for a valentines weekend to Kerala Back in bgl only on Wed.
