| service appartments in Delhi What a great website! I will be moving to Delhi at the end of the month and was hoping someone could suggest a service appartment for the first month until I figure out exactly what neighborhood I would like to live in. I found the Enkay Appts, which sound good, but they are in Gurgon which seems to be out in the middle of nowhere. I'm a photojournalist, so I like the proximity to the airport, but don't know anything else about this area. Any help would be appriciated. christie |

| Welcome to IndiaMike! Okay, you must know three things... One, Gurgaon is a satellite township quite close to South Delhi. One of the reasons it has developed in recent times is its proximity to the international airport. It's about 15-20 minutes from there, while central delhi can be anywhere between 40 min-1 hr. If you'll be landing at domestic airport, add another 10 minutes to Gurgaon and reduce the same for central Delhi. Second, the concept of renting out service apartments for a short term stay just isn't popular in India. At least not in Delhi. You might want to also consider a small time hotel/ guest house such as this one. Third, if you have to commute everyday, try to take a place close to work. Commuting from Gurgaon has its problems. But that's true for everywhere in Delhi. So closer you are to your workplace better it is. Once you identify a location, you can ask about it again on IndiaMike. Finally, look up this website for rental listings of residential apartments in Delhi -- there are no listings for service apt either in Delhi or Gurgaon. Maybe you can find someone who might be persuaded to rent out a furnished apt [at a higher price] for a short period. |

| Hi there Hi Christie, Welcome to India !!! For the requirement of service apartments, I think soulfood is right in his remark that you must actually come back to the board to let us know the place of your work. Cutting travel time in Delhi is desirable, and there are a lot of options available. Gurgaon is a neat place to be in, close to the airport and you should be able to manage a decent service apartment because there is a lot of activity going on in that area, owing to BPOs etc. So, if your office is near Gurgaon, you should go for a good service apartment or a Hotel in Gurgaon. If you are going to be in Delhi, tell us the place so that you can get the best advice. Cheers and once again we hope you have a great time in India !!!

| well, 'a place of work' is kind of a hard one for me... both my fiance and I are photojournalists, so we travel constantly and don't have an office to go to. Being close to the airport would be nice, but the last time we were in india we did all our traveling by train, so I think something more central would be better. Thanks for the appartment listing link, looks like there are some good places there and I will refocus my hunt in south delhi. Thank you so much for the input, I can tell this site is going to be invaluable over the next few months. cj |
