romanian married to an indian

hi guys,
i come from romania- bucharest to be more exactly. im not very new to india but still helpless. ive been married here for 4 years but i was on and off from delhi and only recently we decided to settle here, after i gave up trying to make my hubby embrace the western customs. i was browsing the other day about the problems that western women- i am talking mostly about the ones who are married or in a serious relation with an indian man encounter- and i found a club of wives from all corners of the world who married and settled here in india-mumbai. i think it was a good idea to put the basis of such a club or group. with weekly meetings and stuff like that. well anyway my question is if there is such a thing in delhi.
also i was wondering if there are any other romanians in here since the embassy has no idea about how many romanians are around and what their business is here in delhi.
all best,
bianca

for sure this is a good idea of a plot...and i think it would be the main course of the meeting menu of a wives club.
in a more serious tone now, i find it quite difficult here and i think longest period i could bare in india was 8 months, after which i spent long long time in europe...that was recovery for me. ive always been scared of really settling here. everything is not different but opposite from the things i know. and especially the rules of family issues are- atleast to me- hard to follow.
so instead of spilling all the bitterness i have on my hubby who i am sure finds it difficult to live with me sometimes, id rather talk to someone who understands and shares my views.

scroll right to the bottom - there must be links below your thread which will show you women in similar situations.

and hey - use IM to rant and rave - you'll get an amazing diaspora of perspectives

read them other threads - and write about one of your pet peeves - and whoa! you'll get innovative suggestions - thats for sure!

Hi Bianca, and welcome to IndiaMike. This isn't immediately what you're asking for, but check this thread (scroll to the end of it): New Delhi Meetups & maybe tag along there, if you feel like it, to meet some people.

Member Aishah some time ago also mentioned this group that you may want to check out: http://www.delhinetwork.org/. Someone commented at the time that this group is "by nature of the [timings]... very female orientated".

Well, good luck with it

ps Bianca, what Brishti means is if you scroll to the bottom of this page, you'll find a listing of "similar threads." Opening any of those will again feature a list of similar threads at bottom, and so on and so forth. It's an easy way to navigate the site.

Hi Bianca, welcome to the forum. As you can see, along with the slightly wacky but nearly always good natured replies, useful information and tips would keep trickling in.
There is another old time Indiamike member, icetea, with a similar background to yours - Romanian married to Indian, settled in India;although in Chennai rather than Delhi. Icetea doesn't seem to be too active on the site these days, otherwise I am sure she would have been of help.

All the best

Does stuff get much more serious than shopping?
