Repatriation

We leave B’Lore in three weeks. We’ll be in the Himalayas for two weeks (VOF and pilgrim watching in Badrinath) and then back to our house in Germany by mid June. Are there any former expats around who can give me a heads up on what the repatriation culture shock is like?

What are the difficult adjustments?

What are the things you are glad to have left behind?

What are the things you really miss from India?

Hm, yes, and then there's the Reverse Culture Shock thread.

No immediate advice, Cayle; good luck with the move home Try also from my signature: http://www.doctortravel.ca/index.php?page=culture-shock , arguably meagre though, but it has some simple pointers. In fact a web search for "reverse culture shock" produces a lot of results.

I can already say some things that I won’t miss; mostly the obvious things like corruption, touts, litter and driving here.

I can say that I’ll greatly miss India’s jungle and India’s jungle lovers. It took me most of our time here before I met a local conservation group and I don't wanna leav'em.
