I have already posted this elsewhere on IM but would ask if any of you good people can give me information on the subject heading. Although we prefer to buy a property it may be too difficult and time consuming and therefore would go for renting instead. We would like to rent a fully furnished, nice quality bungalow/house, 2/3 bedrooms/bathrooms, with a good sized garden, right by or very close to a beach with good amenities(restaurants/bars, social life) close by but in an area not overrun by tourists! Good road, rail and air links would be preferred. We would like to rent for about 6 months each year during the warm/hot months (Oct/Nov to Mar/Apr?). We would be willing to consider a good quality fully furnished apartment also but prefer a bungalow/house. Any help/advice would be very welcome as would approximate costs. If you know of such a place then please PM me or leave a reply here. Many thanks and best regards.

You've maybe not had a reply from your other postings because your requirement is a bit like Christmas wish list.
What you need is an agent. Or you need to go there yourself, stay in a hotel for a bit while you look, and get one that way. There are plenty of people offering what you are looking for, but you have to be on the ground, or have someone on the ground, to look for you. There are plenty of places in Goa available from October for the whole season, but you are unlikely to see them advertised on IM ! Good luck, Annie

I think TrueBrit is looking for background, or experiences from people who have done it, rather than anything specific --- his requirements, covering two states, are pretty general...
TrueBrit, earlier I understood that you wanted a permanent let, but that you would only be there 6 months in a year. Are you now thinking of just taking a 6-month?

Annie G - If only it were that simple. Work commitments prevent me from doing that whioch would, of course, be the ideal scenario and as Nick-H out I am trying to get others experiences, ideas and recommendations.
Nick-H - What would be ideal is to be able to rent the same suitable property for the same six months each year in order to ensure that we have peace of mind without any hassle. I thought about the permanent let but as we would also like members of the family to use it in our absence I had to take the weather factor into account and therefore decided 6 months would be a better option. I sent my post based primarily on a post that was written by a lady sometime in 2004 and in which she actually did exactly the same thing at she said it worked out great for her. She said that because she rented it for six months the owner reduced the monthly rent from about 10,000 to 8,,000 although costs will have gone up by now of course. |
