Paying taxes ?

Hi everybody,
Since by now You know that we're going anyway, and we're getting a pension from Norway, do we have to pay income tax on a dissabilitie
pension in India ??

P.S. we have all the nessasary documents witch proves that it is the truth

Nowhere else in the world we should pay tax on that .

Thanks Guys & Girls

All about everything

Hello Digvijay,

Thanks for a good detailed answer about taxes.

- Yes, Norway has a treatie with India .
before anything else : I'm Jane, Norwegian (45) living in Belgium, and my partner,
for many Years, Ray is Belgian (51)

While we where living in Norway, I've had 3 spinal operations, and made me into a pain patient, that's why I'm getting this pension from Norway.

-The pension is going to be sendt to a bank in Margao ( that is if we can open a bankaccount at the State Bank of India).
-You've ben talking about staying more than 180 days, well, we plan to stay
a life time.
-It is however a problem with the Embassy here in Belgium, because they
only think in tourist terms (a 5 Year visa only works for students, business,
having property, or having relatives), they never heard of pensioners at our age.
- so would it help to hire a lawyer as You mentioned once we are there, even
with a tourist visa ??
Thanking You,
Kind regards
Ray & Jane

It's the same in the UK. I'm thinking how best to apply for a one year. ie. what might be best to put on the form to convince them At least it'd be better than the standard 6 month Multiple Entry that they issue.
