Overstaying Visa - solutions??

I have two friends (one Polish and one New Zealander) who have overstayed their visas. They tried to leave the country, with a letter from the Home Secretary of NZ back in January, but were denied boarding, and told that they would have been arrested had they not had the letter. Since then they have gone back to doing walk on parts in bollywood but are wanting to leave.

Has anyone had a similar experience or know waht the exact procedure is short of turning yourself in, being arrested and formally deported??

Thanks..

Renewing the visa helps...Talking to the Airline CSAs for advice helps as well, as does having a word with your friend's respective consulates.

Funny that when someone overstays their visa, it means they are NO LONGER ENTITLED TO STAY, yet they CANNOT LEAVE THE F'N COUNTRY.

India is great

Renedu,

Whats your friends claim makes no sense. Typically they will be allowed to leave (and may be charged a fee) . But they might have problems getting another visa to India at a later date.

You can't ask a person to do something that is not their job!!!! This is India remember.

The only way is to get your visa extended and pay a huge fine per day. Given the time that they have left it they are in a bit of trouble. A land border has more potential but don't even bother trying it at the airport.
