NRI and Dutch want to build a house in Mangalore
Jyothi and I are living in Amsterdam The Netherlands, we have a little plan we are planning to build a house in Mangalore because her mum lives there.....
Are here any people from Mangalore / or know good builders from there ? my uncle is a architect so he will design the house for us. The main thing is Iam a bit worried do I need to be there when the house is going to be build like following up with the people there. I can’t ask my uncle to spend 3 months or longer ….lol
I love to hear people’s feedback

Hopefully you'll hear from Prof. Lionel Aranha, a Mangalore resident who might be able to offer some suggestions.
I would agree with crvlvr's caution though; from what I've seen in Goa, close supervision is required of any building project both from a quality-control standpoint as well as financial.

The importent point here is Jyothi's mum lives here!! So the usual warnings may not have to be stressed in quite the same way!
Visit with the family discreetly ask how much the newer houses cost to build!
Involve your wifes family in the negotiations, look at properties and generaly inform yourself of the local status quo.
With the extended Indian family to help grease the rollers you have in effect the best legal, artisan, architechural, fixer, and provider of the needed talents that you will ever need!!
Her mum will have all the right networks!!
