I mean going back to the attitude of the landowners, here is the 'morality code' in some parts in India.

Quote:
The other day, Karnal was in the news, though not for its booming economy. A young woman, six months pregnant, had been killed by a group that included her father, and her body along with her lover’s, was thrown out into the streets. Where they lay, until the police arrived and took them away. The media calls it an ‘honour killing’. I call it a national shame.

I guess dealing with the landlord is just the preparation for dealing with her father... hey, some bollywood people around?
Here's a new story for a movie...

Fighting with landlords is not a straightforward business, and can be quite taxing mentally, particularly in Delhi. For one, the landlord controls the water tap, and can be quite mean with it. Once you hit that level, you don't have much option than moving out.

I know, because I've had similar problems with my landlord in Delhi, though more about the **number** of people visiting and staying over than about the gender/colour.

hehehe...the stick & fight option IMHO is not worth it...

He'd be far better off picking up an apartment in a relatively more cosmopolitan place like Gurgaon (If the location is not an issue) where the landlord does not reside on the same premises....

Me & a couple of other guys had a rented bachelor pad in South City, Gurgaon 4 odd years ago..and since it was a fairly big apt, and used to get quite a few female and male visitors..actually way more than few...

But since it was a fairly big apartment complex, and the landlord wasn't anywhere close-by, we never had any issues, whatsoever....

The only thing we used to be careful about was keeping the noise levels in check....
Actually most of the new gated communities in Gurgaon are way more willing to accept what may be otherwise deemed "immoral" behavior in other localities in Delhi which have a higher proportion of people settled for at least a generation....

In contrast, Gurgaon has a predominantly floating population of professionals who couldn't care less about what their neighbor is upto (unless the neighbor goes around planting bombs in broad daylight )
