Need help with tax prep
Hi All,
Hoping someone here can help me! I'm looking for someone to file my US taxes, without paying an arm and a leg. I know I can go to some of the MNC players but they're charging quite a bit, and some of them won't do one-off individual filings. Does anyone know of an accountant, etc. who could handle this? I know that the process is not 100% straightforward, so that's why I'm looking for some professional help! I'm in Bangalore, if that makes a difference, and my India tax filing is handled by our family accountant (who sadly does not handle foreign tax filing, nor know anyone who does). I would be enormously grateful if anyone here can help. Thanks! |

you can do it online.. easy as 1-2-3. I recommend Tax Cut. Turbo Tx used to be good, but not anymore.
Click on http://www.taxcut.com/ and then online products. It may even let you go through the entire process for free before charging you at the end. |

I can help you with that, but it may be more complicated than you think, if you are eligible to exclude your foreign earned income from US taxes.
PM me with more details and your e-mail address ... you might have to post a few more messages before you can send PMs. |

Yes, I would be eligible to exclude earned income in India, so that's why I'm looking for someone who can handle the process for me. I feel like it doesn't need to be quite that complicated (my return last year, prepped by an MNC firm, was 100 pages...yikes) but also want to be sure I don't miss out on filing anything that's required. I live/work in Bangalore but understand that I still need to file in the USA to maintain citizenship & remain legal.

As a US citizen or resident, yes, you are required to declare your world-wide income, even if you can then exclude some or all of it.
I can't PM you with my e-mail address until you post some more messages ... forum rules. |

I'm not sure ...but surely you can answer some questions about Bangalore -- isn't that where you are?
