Moving to India

I would love to do this as I have always loved the place and the culture. The life and world that is so different.

May I on a six month 'Tourist Visa' extend in India and remain. Are there actually any easier ways to move to India?

I have no degree, so will employment be easy. I guess it will not. I have experience working in a Bank only?

Many thanks

Hello Richie and welcome to indiamike.com

Have a look at the Moving to India, Expat, and Goa forums, there are many threads you will find helpful in those forums.

You'll also need to have a long browse through the Visa section of this site, as the visa is the #1 hindrance to 'moving' to India. Your question is answered quite frequently on IndiaMike, so the information you're looking for is in these threads, just take some time and go through the wealth of information contained in these particular sections.

Bluntly...

A tourist visa is absolutely not renewable or extendable in India.

It is not permitted to work on a tourist visa.

Unless you come to India on an employment visa, which means haveing a job offer already, any kind of long term visa is very hard to obtain.

Here's my only positive thought for you... you say you love the culture: consider becoming a student. But you wouldn't be able to earn money here.
