medical jobs

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but I'll give it a go.
I have always had a dream to live and work in India for a period of time. I've travelled a few times as a backpacker, totally loved it, and desperately want to expand my Indian experience into actually living and working there.
I'm a doctor, Sports Medicine predominantly but also a GP. But I just can't seem to find websites, recruiting agencies etc through the net.
I'm hoping that some of you out there may be able to help with information regarding:
1) how easy/hard it is to find medical work in India
2) are there medical recruitment agencies for Indian jobs
3) or am I just dreaming because there are lots of highly qualified Indian doctors who would take precedence over me?
Thankyou for any advice!

I think you have to be registered with the medical council of India first.

I've already started looking into that, but being registered is the easy bit, knowing how to then get a job is the hurdle. I have no appreciation or understanding of what my employment chances are, or how to even go about it. I can't seem to find any good information on the net about it.
Has anyone out there worked in the health industry in India? Or does anyone know where I should look - websites etc..?
Thanks again.

I studied in India, am a doctor but never practiced there. My husband has practiced there but now in US. I will get back to you on websites. You have LOTSSS of wonderful and many times lucrative opportunities as a foreign trained doctor in India. Apollo hospitals is always hiring NRI/foreign doctors. I heard there is a wonderful upscale maternity hospital called "The Cradle" looking to hire doctors.

There are also NGO's looking for volunteer docs. The options are endless..NRI/foriegn doctors are in quite demand my friend. Best of luck..I will also get back to you on websites. Take care!

Thanks heaps Docgirl for your positive answer - you've got me excited that I may possibly have a chance to live and work in India, something I've always wanted!
Thanks in advance for your website advice (if and when you find them!)
Cheers!
