Medical Blood Tests
I'm working at a company in Mumbai and have some medical treatment that requires monthly blood checks. Does anyone have any experience getting lab tests performed on blood as a non-member at hospitals in the Mumbai area? How does it usually work and what are the costs? Thanks

All the good hospitals have testing facilities. AFAIK you would need to have a doctors order from their hospital to use them. So get into the out patients queue meet with the doctor tell him what you want, pay his fees get the order and have your tests done.
Or find a local GP who your neighbours reccommend, and ask her/him for the name of good private testing lab. There are many good ones in Mumbai. They would be glad to provide the service. IIRC most of them also have a printed rate sheet for various test services. Part of their business is also walk-ins. Or go to a private Nursing home (again reccommendations are the best option since you are new there) and ask them to do the tests. Most of them source their tests to local labs or guide you to the local lab. If I was new to Mumbai I would have 2 or 3 places do the tests initially. The one which agrees most closely to what I expect and/or my previous test result is the one I would go to regularly. In all the above cases you would have to describe what you want tested. Why is your business - specially for option 2 walk-in. |

I had blood tests for almost everything as part of a complete Health Check package that cost less than GBP30 at Apollo Hospital, Chennai two days ago.
Even got a free meal. So I doubt that your test is going to damage your purse too much, even in Mumbai. It might require a chat with an appropriate specialist to set up, but I would not expect either difficulty or high cost. <This post rendered redundant by Appu's much more helpful post>
