MBA studies in Delhi Hi! Does anyone have any info regarding MBA studies in Delhi? Just moved to India (Gurgaon) from Skandinavia and figured I could study something on my spare time. I'm an engineer and planning to stay in India for app. a year. Visited "Eikon Academy" in Delhi, they offered a degree (duration = 52 weeks) for 60000 INR.

MBAs in Delhi There are dozens of private institutes. It's easy to get into most private institutes if you're willing to pay but very very tough to get into the really good ones, some of which are Govt institutes. Indian Institute of Foreign Trade [IIFT] is among the most reputed govt. ones in Delhi. You might want to do a Google search for MBA rankings that business magazines come out with. If relocation isn't a problem and you're good at what you do, you should consider trying for the IIMs or even better, the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. Try Google for each of these terms. Finally, there's a pretty big community of MBA aspirants that will be very useful to you -- PaGaLGuY.com

| kalevala, r u going to be working full time and are looking for something to fill in the time off work? if that's your only motivation for doing MBA then I suggest you pick something else to study (hindi?). a part time MBA, especially squeezed into one year (that's the first time I hear about such programme, normally part time MBAs are two year at least) is a huge commitment of which money is the least important part. in addition to the hours you spend in a class you'll spend much more time reading for the classes, preparing assignments and working in a group on group assignments. I'd say for every one hour in the class there is 2-3 hours of preparation, plus group work time and exam preparation time. I would also make enquiries about whether this one year programme is internationally recognised/accredited. otherwise your MBA degree will only be valid in India. Lastly, a general bit of advice on doing MBA, from own experience, from my class experience and from my friends who have ever done the MBA degree: we all agree that, the MBA is only worth doing (considering all that effort and money) if it's a top MBA, and not just another programme called MBA at your local univ...

Hi Kalevala Just read you post again. I missed the "something on my spare time" part when I first read it. Volga Volga is correct, it would take a lot of commitment to complete such a course alongside your regular job. You might want to go for an executive programme though. These usually last only a few months to an year. Try visiting the Management Development Institute [MDI] in Gurgaon when you have time, to check about what they offer. It's not very far from Udyog Vihar, where I think your company may be located. There's another MBA institute right in UV that I forget the name of. It has collaboration with some Japanese institution. Almost forgot to mention Institute of Technology and Management [ITM] in sector23. Cheers Last edited by soulfood; Feb 22nd, 2005 at 12:45..

Getting into IIM s for fulltime programs itself needs great amount time and effort in terms of preparations. They do offer some kind of part time/sponsored programs also for the working professionals. Check out their sites. Also there is the popular Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignoo!) offereing a number of ‘flexible’ courses. www.ignou.ac.in
