looking forward to a swift response. thanks...
1. NO
2. Check what your local registrar wants. She may need a certificate of no impediment.

3. No, french consulate's permission is not required to get married.

Your girlfriend should pay a visit to the consulate in Kolkata to double check with the requirement.

Please do not use SMSism. The list of documents required for marrying under SMA (Special Marriage Act) should be available from the registrar nearest to the Indian spouse to be

celibacy certificate

hello friends,
finally we spoke to the french consulate in Kolkata and they asked us to submit the documents. but I'm a bit confused with the celibacy certificate. according to the consulate, it's a notary certificate and i should get it from the local court submitting some other requisite documents. but when i visited the district court, they refused to issue such certificate and they said that i can make an affidavit only for that purpose. now, i feel helpless as the consulate could not give me a sample or more details.
so, please help me if someone has more details about it. who should declare the affidavit and what should he declare?
