Jobs for QUALIFIED teachers in India?

Hi all
First post but have gathered lots of information fomr here in readiness for first trip in August, so thanks for that!

Partner and I are both qualified secondary school teachers (science/maths) and, providing we enjoy the India experience on our holiday, are seriously considering trying to get teachings jobs in India for a couple of years. Many other countries advertise their international jobs in England but it is very rare to see jobs for India (it's mostly middle east and south east asia).

Any suggestions for how to go about looking for jobs at suitable schools in India-anywhere for now? The internet throws up a lot of domestic adverts but nothing much to attract the international worker-maybe this isn't the done thing?

Hi welcome to IM,

In India Secondary teachers won't get that much pay which can attract international Teachers, but yes as Far as Mumbai i can say over here you can earn good by taking some private classes, like French tuitions! and for other subjects too!

Thanks
Cheers!!

Yes, its the more informal areas of education that may show the most promise..

Sounds good, how did that work out for you? I'm curious about that as well.

As far as I know, you have to have a work permit, which they only give if there is a shortage of skills in a particular field? Too much paper work and going to police for check ups every few months I gather? Permit has to new renewed every year if I remember correctly.

You could start your own school but that is even worse due to the red tape and tipping.
