Hello all,
I am a new member of this site and I would like to ask you informations about jobs in space area in Bangalore. I am french and I have the possibility to come to bangalore for one year or more in Bangalore for my work (in microelectronic). My friend would like to come with me but he has to find a new job in bangalore. For the moment he works in ALCATEL space in space area, do you think there is a possibility for him to find something in this area in bangalore. We have heard about the ISRO, but it seems that ISRO considers only INDIAN nationals for recruitment. Is it true? Thanks a lot for all your help. Bye |

Welcome to IM.
Yes, ISRO considers only Indian nationals for recruitment. Take look at Job opportunities on their web site. I think opportunities in this area are very limited. ALCATEL has presence in Bangalore, but may not be space related. But your friend should not have any problem landing a job in software/hardware industry if he has any relevant experience. Good luck. |

Space is reserved for government sector companies only. Hence, there is very rare chance of a working option in that sector.
However, he can try to see if ALCATEL has any joint programs with ISRO in which case he can try to get a deputation or exchange work option if available. India is very pricky on Space matters due to some major spying in the past. So any enquiry into this matter would be monitored with suspicion.

Marjorie, could you elaborate some more on his expertise. If it is totally space related (eg orbital dynamics, liquid propulsion etc) he would definitely have a tough time finding something appropriate. Getting into ISRO is impossible, but some french companies have joint projects with HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics) and ISRO. For instance SNECMA (french aero-engine company) is setting up a design/manufacture facility in Bangalore.
For instance I googled for SNECMA Bangalore to find this: http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache...angalore&hl=en If he works in more communication/electronics related area's there are lots of opportunites in Bangalore. |
