International Driving Permit
International Driving Permit
Hi there,
From my research, I can see that to drive in India I need to purchase an IDP in the UK. Is this all I require to drive here? It seems strangely straightforward!
Thank you!

Apparently so - there's an older thread here.
Also rather silly -- in the US at least, getting an international driving permit means simply showing your state driving license & forking over ~$15 to the American Automobile Assn. They may as well accept the state license.

Oh Boy another one !!
I love this subject and hope it runs for months !
Get a check up, from the kneck up, first.
IDP is not your main concern, far from it.
You surely have serious mental health problems ?
Ha Ha !! I'm enjoying this already.

I would chide you for that comment except that as a former driver in India, admittedly under a local license, I agree with it..
I totally agree, I must be quite mad!
Just want it though incase we do long trips somewhere - not fair to have the other half doing all the driving!
Must say I am surprised that this is so straightforward...but hey, 'This Is India!'

Just remember that you are the only one on the road and you will do fine. Good luck
