International Crowd in Pune?
Hey IMers,
I'm wondering where in Pune the more international crowd hangs out for a beer and such? I don't mean Westerners, the fact that there are very few Westerners here is a welcome change after Thailand. But having attended international universities, I enjoy the company of other international people, be they from Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand ...as well as Indians that have spent part of their life abroad. Usually makes for interesting conversation.

The Koregaon Park area is generally where you're likely to find a more "international" crowd thanks to the Osho Commune and such - places like German Bakery and Barista (Hote Sunderban?). I'm sure there a bunch of new places there now. Its been a few years since I moved but these are classics!

That sounds good, thanks. So far I have only roamed around the Fergusson College area, but BarCode and Apache seem to be the only bars around there, a bit disappointing.

u're on the wrong places dude, if u want to mix with the international crowd then some places :-
1. Symbiosis (Vishwabhavan) where lot of westerners come to study 2. University of Pune (Journalism, Fine arts & most of language courses). 3. Mahindra United World College Bhawdan, Pune Mahindra UWC sits perched on a scenic ridge in the Sahyadri Mountains, overlooking the Mulla River, 40 km west of Pune, in the Mulshi area. The closest village, Paud, is 7 km away. Mahindra UWC is 3.5 hours by road from the Mumbai airports and 1 hour by road from Pune city. Site There are quite a few of manufacturing & IT industries which employ expats but tht's too widely spread. The others have been given above. Last edited by jivan : Aug 20th, 2006 at 14:31. |

Thanks, I think I'll check out Symbiosis, as Senapati Bapat rd is not too far from where I'm staying. I'm not really looking for the meditation crowd, more professionals and students

That should read as Dhole Patil Road, it's pretty close to Koregaon Park.

I was at Soho in Kalyani Nagar on the weekend (north of Koregaon Parl, over the bridge on the way to Aga Khan Palace). A nice place, decent music and a good crowd - inside they have more of a club/lounge atmosphere with big couches on the sides, outside it's like a garden restaurant with bar. Kingfisher was 90 bucks, which is ok, but for a Red Label/Coke they charged 350 bucks (!).
Maybe I'll check out TDS this weekend, I like it better less fancy anyways. Speaking of Dhole Patil road - good food in that area! |
