Info. on virtual work teams
Info. on virtual work teams
Hello:
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question so please forgive me if it is not appropriate.
I'm trying to locate information on cultural communication experiences between Indian and American virtual team members. Preferably in the high tech industry as this is where many such teams exist. I cannot locate any books on this subject. Does anyone know what real life communication issues have occurred with teams trying to work together via long distance?
Thanks much

yes
In my previous life/job, I was a project manager for an IT company in the US working with the india team in Bombay. I suppose I can write a book on this.
Feel free to PM me or email me at my address below with specific questions and I can answer them for you. I wont respond till next week as I am out of town but know that I will eventually.
Being Indian in the US helped me lot but the other western PMs didnt share the same bond, nuances, jokes with the gang and I think some things were lost in translation. Overall we had great teamwork and got a lot accomplished given the timeframes.
I am still in touch with a lot of my devs in India. Its amazing the company went through series of lay-offs and all of us were gainfully employed months later here in the US but we all missed the india connection.... sound familiar?
