Someone who slept through economics, and only A-level too. I passed, because it was a multiple-choice paper and I guessed my way through it .

My previous post (just one) was meant to imply that this fact is one that is often overlooked by many businesses and organisations.

The Gods of Short-Term Gains, of This Quarter's Results, do not prioritise building a workforce for the mutual long-term benefit of workers and employers.

No... I missed that population growth thread, as it seems did everyone else. I've 'bumped' it, but if you like, Birds, I can move to the post to this more active thread?

Seems a good idea. Thanks Nick

I am making forecasts at the moment for car populations in Asia until 2050. Have not got the final results yet but it is starting to look quite horrific

im looking over the "population growth" thread and over the numbers related...it is scarry a lil...but no worry if most of the population here doesnt know about birth control, europe on the other hand knows it too well. so by 2020 or so european economy will have no other way of supporting its old population but to import asian people...as much as they dont like it, it is a good solution for both sides.

Garbage in Bangalore

I am working with the Environmental Science dept of a college, I had come across some statistics that in 2005, the garbage produced by each person in Bangalore was about 5 grams per day. That is really nothing compared to the garbage produce by people in the West. The difference is that in Western countries, the garbage is driven out of sight and dumped in a landfill, whereas in Indian cities, the garbage is dumped on the next street over. And then the next thing you know is that the garbage is set on fire!

Wish cities had garbage segregation program. We truly need waste Management Companies!

In Bangalore and Nagpur, they are experimenting using recycled plastics in roads, which have been found to make them durable.

A note about e-wastes - Western countries just ship their e-wastes to developing countries. Many poor farming villages have turned into rich e-waste towns, where the villagers are paid to to extract metals from the e-wastes without adequate protection.

As more and more people become affluent...hopefully environmental issues get priority.

As bad as India is....China, the other giant, is worse.
