India investing resources

Is there a forum for India related investing and finance, comparable to Indiamike? I.e. ubersmart, funny, realistic chat board about $$ ...?

I've found yahoo finance India but I'm looking for the boards where savvy people (Capt_Mahajan) who know how the world turns (with an Indian background) post..

And one very basic question, please bear with me..is there an fx market in India ...? Given India's past tight fx controls, I'm not sure how the market trades fx if the INR is not fully and freely convertible...the keywords being fully and freely.

You do me too much credit. It's just that I am self taught.

The chat boards, one of the sites below has them, but I would not waste my time on what people have to say there. Not aware of any others.

Other sites , the first two are strong recommendations.

www.valueresearchonline.com excellent for mutual funds
www.economictimes.com the financial newspaper.

www.personalfn.com
www.moneycontrol.com (the one with the chat)

Yes, there is a fx market in India, but don't know anything much about it.
Except that fully and freely does not apply to fx in India.

You are the proverbial minefield .. of information!

PS: I've put 2 and 2 together from another thread about the equator, that you are/were in the mercantile marine. Or does 2+2=5

Capt ...

I agree that www.valueresearchonline.com is an excellent site for Mutual Funds .... its Portfolio Option is pretty awesome and none of the many other sites that offer portfolio-analysis, is as good as in VR. The MF databases and search/filter options in VR are also pretty good.

www.moneycontrol.com is ok for stock market news & anaysis & reports ... but the chat-board scene is pretty bad and not effectively moderated.

In fact, I do wonder if there are any India-related Chat-Boards & Forums (on any India subject) that quite equal or better IndiaMike site?? If there are I would like to know.

Not that I know of.

People like Nick recommend one car/driving forum for vehicles. Perhaps (in line with your trip), you should look at it... it should be in some of Nick's posts, can't recall the name now.

That should keep me busy for a while, thx CM

Looks like the nascent fx market is only for institutions and individuals cannot trade even through institutions ..

Yes, had a quick look at Traderji... seems interesting ... will register and checkout over next few days and revert.

Thanks for the link .... KS

PS: Looks like they are using the same software as IndiaMike. So interface looks identical except for Color scheme.

Whilst I am not at all interested in the main topic, I can see this thread is already a very useful resource for my friend who lives in Dharamsala and is interested in this field. I shall recommend she joins IM and have noted this thread for her.
