Income taxes on disability pension

Hi Guy's & Girls,

My wife is getting a disability pension from Norway.

Since we've found out that Norway has no treaty with India about Health -
Insurance (No Problem), we are wondering if India (Goa) is charging an income tax on a disability pension send by Norway to the State Bank of India
every month.??

If so, or not, is there a website where we can find out??

As far as I know your wife will not have to pay any income tax.

The first article here is primarily concerned with double taxation: that is, if Norway taxes this income, India will not.

I didn't read the entire article; you will want to do so.

If Norway does not tax such income you may be deep in cow dung. I met the author of my Marathi textbook in the income tax office. When outside income is translated into Rupee scale progressive income tax rates the results are evil. I would suggest a good local tax man. However, if you have it deposited in an account in Norway and bring it out in irregular amounts I am not sure how that would be detected from a withdrawal from savings as opposed to an income stream..

I agree with edwardseco. leave the money in norway and use your ATM card to withdraw money as you need it in india..
