Hi, I have a cleaner/housemaid in Mahindra World City. She works for about 3-4 hours 5 days a week and I pay her 3000 Rs. I think this is expensive, especially when I know she freely takes things out my fridge when I am in the city.

I live in Gurgaon. I have a live in 'all rounder'. She works about 8 hours a day M-F and 4 hours on Saturday. She does everything. She speaks English. She is a very good cook (European / Indian). I pay her Rs8,500 / month. She has her own kitchen and she has to buy her own food. I did this because I like to have the house to myself after 5.30pm. This is the going-rate in Gurgaon for expats. I understand expats generally pay more than Indians. I would expect to pay a higher salary for an English speaker I also think it's worth the money.
I also have a maid to help with the cleaning (it's a big house). She stays until it's clean - about 3-4 hours a day with Sundays off.
I also pay overtime at Rs35/hour for my all rounder and Rs25/hour for my maid.
They can go on holiday when we are on holiday up to about 4 weeks a year.
I also pay a uniform allowance for my all rounder
I also pay a Diwali bonus. I am really not keen on this but that's the way it is. I'm happy with everything else.

I finally stumbled upon a great idea - why not get a maid who works at a 5-star?? So... I approached one of the maids at the Taj to come and cleam my house. He agreed and does the best job I could ever imagine. I pay him bi-weekly 1,500INR and he comes three times a week. My place looks like a 5-star hotel when he leaves and he is worth every rupee.

If anyone is in Bangalore and needs a maid, drop me a PM if interested.

As my experience they want 1000Rs/month for 1 kind of home work in Bangalore. Maybe if would be little less because of just 1 room.

Hi we just moved to Bandra and I'd be grateful if anyone can give me current market rate of hiring a live-in maid as well as rate for a part-time maid who comes in 6 days a week. This person will be only doing housework, we don't have any children. I'm pretty much hands on with cooking so will just need her to do prep work. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Folks, it's been a long time but the gentleman's name is Babu. His number is 9740184516. Tell him Anand from Rest House Road recommended him.

If that doesn't work then wander the halls of a five star and make your proposal to the maids you find.

Welcome back Indjun, but I think the poster who wanted your help had died of old age.

I thought it was only senior economists and politicians that did things like that
