hotels in south delhi
Hi all,
I posted this here in the expat section as opposed to the Delhi forum because 1. I need a place to stay in south delhi for approximately 2 weeks and 2. most of the hotels I've come across on this forum are in CP or Paharganj which is not the area I'm looking for. My office is in Hauz Khas so while I'm looking for a more permanent arrangement, I'd like to stay in a hotel near there in south delhi and preferably something with a western toilet and safe for a single female. so I guessed that most informed people for this would be those living in Delhi more permanently. So I'm looking for names of hotels in South Delhi that you may recommend (and address/phone numbers are a plus!) any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance |

south delhi hotels
What kind of hotels do you need?
hotels in south delhi are mostly upper middle class. There was a string of upmarket hotels on Outer Ring Rd from the west side of flyover to Neru Place, I think from 2 to 5 thousands Rs per night, on the same Outer Ring Rd to the west in more quiet Panchsheel Enclave I have visited 2 hotels - Windsor Place (expensive) and Oak View (around 1300-1600 Rs). On Aurobindo Marg there were several hotels, I don't remember names, but all of them were around 4-5 thousands per day. On cheapie I remember had name something like a Shyam International (price was around 1000 Rs, maybe they also have sheap singles for app 600 Rs). It is located on the same Outer Ring Rd only to the west from Aurobindo Marg cross. Of course in South DElhi there are many 5 stars with prices starting from 6000 Rs without taxes. They include Vasant Continental before PVR Priya, Marriott near PVR Anupam in Saket, Qutab Hotel in between them and others. |

thanks cfhi--any idea about the prices?
wow, those seem really expensive Davyd! I was hoping to find something around 1,500 Rs. or less. Otherwise, they are way expensive, even on American standards! I'm not looking for anything fancy. Just clean, quiet, safe, and western bathroom. My only real requirement is that its in south Delhi Thanks again |

Hi i can recommend a guest house that is owned by an acquaintance in Saket. Havent seen the rooms but I've heard they are clean and the basics are in place. The rent is about 1500 a night and i think they're open to discounts on long term stays. The location is good right next to the PVR complex which has a host of restaurants, pubs etc. and the area is safe. They usually cater to corporate clients. You can check the place out to see if it suits your needs. The address is E-91 Saket. If you're interested i can send you the contact details.

I heard that there is a really nice guest house in golf links that isn't too pricey. That's right around Khan Market. Not sure if that's going to be too far from Hauz Khaz for you though.

Guest House in South Delhi
You might be interested in two guest houses in South Delhi which are situated in two private, gated housing colonies in Vasant Kunj. I stayed there when I first landed in Delhi and they are safe and clean and will meet your standards. They're run by the same person who is very nice and he can help with whatever arrangements you need. There is one in the D-7 housing complex and one in the C-5 complex, both similar, and will be about 20-30 min from Haus Khaz and about 15 min from the airport. They can provide you with meals and internet as needed, and can help connect you with other services that you may require. I believe his prices per night should come out to about $40-$50/night, but if you stay for 2 weeks you can prob negotiate a better rate.

south delhi hotels
hello wanderlustress
i think do not book anything before coming to south delhi, as a rule all hotels in india except 5 stars give discounts for long stayers. For example when I wandered in Karol Bagh many decent hotels were ready to lower their price twice to around 1000 Rs per night if I stay at least a week or 10 days. You are planning to stay 2 weeks - it is enough term to bargain down rent. Now I want to give some information I could not find last time. The hotel Oak View has actually name Silver Oak (tel 26016367; Saomi Nagar; rooms 1500-1900 Rs). Furtyher down the Outer Ring road 3 business hotels opposite each other in Greater Kailash: Regal Inn (tel 26482968), Rockland Inn (tel 26499780) and opposite Brightstar Inn (tel 26465454). Some tel may not work, I copied them from Yellow Pages 1 or 2 years ago when I was looking for accomodation in South Delhi, but I did not find hotels I found flat on rent. |

Typ0, that would be Ahuja Residency. Yes, that's a bit far from Hauz Khas. Wanderlustress, I think davyd's suggestions of guest houses along outer ring road seem like a good bet. But as cfhi said, with the New Year coming, it may be tough to get a room. Keep all the names/numbers with you that you see on this page, just in case. Good luck.

dear wanderlust,
i think the best of all these options will be the International Youth Hostel in Diplomatic Enclave, Chankyapuri in South Delhi. They offer a A/C room at Rs. 600/- per day...non A/C at Rs. 300/-(if available). Its the best and the cleanliest option to stay at.Their mess serves good meals also plus all the standard facilities any hostel can offer. check`em out at http://yhaindia.org. of course they require you to be a member of their association and it is a small formality...just present one passport size photograph and Rs. 50/- as membership fee..and u get association membership for one year. revert back for any further details. warm regards. ashwani |
