There are independent training companies which do hire American Accent trainers...besides those ofcourse BPOs, software companies and other companies also hore them..

But OP was more interested in Teaching job rather than a trainer..depends on personal preferences..

You're right, but looking at the practical side, there's a lot more openings for trainers, and they teach anyway...as far as I understand it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

A trainer is for Skillset and teacher for Subject !! You can say that there is a fineline between the two, but it sure exists !!

Looking at the practical side is something I should not be bothered with...OP and potential employer are the people who should do that...

A person who has been doing the same job for several years generally would not like to move to a new role..

People are afraid of Change..even though Change is only thing that is constant !!

Interesting. In America, we reinvent ourselves all the time. It may be easier in the USA to merge into another "profession" or job. So I guess you're saying that it may be different from your point of view as an HR person in India. Thanks for the insight.

Its not about being in America OR India...80% of people are happy doing there current jobs..they may crib about it but they won't go for the change...

This is something very unique to teaching, as it is considered an elite job, which actually pays you 'well' enough...no major hassles..less working hours compared to other jobs...

And its not all about your preference..it depends on potential employer as well...in these fast moving times, most of them won't give much thought to a person who doesn't have 'relevant experience' and would go for someone who has worked in domain...some companies might do that as well..
