Expat Moving to Gurgaon - Looking for Farmhouse/Villa
Hi all,
I'm a spanish national shifted with my company to GURGAON from June 2011.
I'm looking for a Farmhouse / Villa for rent in a well conected area in Gurgaon.
My budget is arround 120k - 200k monthly.
Would anyone give me some advise about price range and suitable neighborhoods?
What kind of property can I get for 120-200k?
Is there any prefferred area for expats?
Any comment/help will be wellcome
Thanks in advance

Typically safety is an issue when it comes to independent houses in Gurgaon. I'd suggest living in one of the fancier apartment complexes. There are penthouses which will give you sufficient open spaces. Complexes along Golf Course Road might be within your budget.
Sushant Lok - Florence Elite
Thanks for your advise, I didn't know that safety is an issue in Gurgaon.
I've got an offer for a small villa in Sushan Lok - Florence Elite. Does anyone know anything about the safety in that area?
Is it a common neighborhood for expats?
Thanks for your help

Yes, safety is a big issue in Gurgaon. I'd suggest that you come down and then decide on the house. Don't agree on anything from your home country. You can find temp accommodation here for a month or so then decide.
Thanks 10yearitch and Sanspro,
I've been surfing on the net and found some villas in Sushant Lok for arround Rs 1,00,000 - 1,50,000 which fits my budget but I wonder if you guys can recommend any other areas.
Are there Pubs/Restaurants/anything to do with my spare time in Sushant Lok III or any other complex along Golf course?
I'll be fine as I guess I will stay at the office till very late every day but I'm quite worried about my wife as she will have a lot ot free time with nothing to do but going out for shopping or whatever you can do in Gurgaon.
Any advide will be more than wellcome,
Regards

There are plenty of expats in Gurgaon - so no need to worry on that front.
As I said, I would recommend that you should not agree on anything before actually seeing the place
for yourself. Plenty of bait and switch cases
Google for expat groups in Gurgaon - there are a couple of them. I think it is best to seek their views as well.

I stay at Gurgaon. Indeed Golf Course road is where the Posh apartment societies are...
Even in the Golf course apartments as well.....a lot of expats are seen in their SUVs
Although its (Gurgaon) not as classy and jazzy as compared to new Delhi... The roads aren't that great.. but the lifestyle is still fairly good. You've got tons of malls, a few pubs, 2-3 discotheques, many international schools, many hospitals, good metro connectivity to Delhi (if need be)....amidst power cuts, security and water supply issues.
The latter 3 are NOT THERE when you stay in a well maintained gated society. They take care of 100% Power backup all round the clock, 100% water Supply, landscaping, waste disposal and clean surroundings etc etc....
In other words, for the budget you have.. you won't get an excuse to complain, other than for the frequent dust storms that you'd see from your Car while on the road
Anything else, feel free to ask..
I am a member of Yuni Net as well.. Its a wealth of information over there..try and get yourself added to the group I can vouch there will be as many people trying to help you out there, as there are on this forum...

For once I disagree Curt - sorry for that mate
Go for Gurgaon Connection - pretty much all the expats in Gurgaon that I'm aware of and of all ages and income levels are members and there's an excellent social life in the group. They have recently started doing new-comers meetings, so that would be a good entry into life in Gurgaon.
As for accomodation 112-200k a month will get you a very, very nicely done apartment in The Pinnacle where there are a lot of expats. (Avoid the top floor and the side facing the construction work next door). Aralias on the other side of Golf Course Road would be out of reach with your budget I think unless you're lucky to find a cost-effective apartment or a less greedy landlord. :-)
Thanks to you all for your help,
Actually I've already got in contact with a Relocation Company and it seems that they are going to handle this issue. They are going to make a selection for me and I will move to Gurgaon to visit the properties by myself and choose one.
I'll be in Gurgaon very soon and hope to meet you all to have a beer.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Housing in Gurgaon
You really do not need to stay in Gurgaon - commute from Delhi is what I have been doing since moving back to India.
However, Gurgaon does have some amazing condos.
As for area, stick to Golf course road , DLF phase 4 or Sushant Lok.. Great apartments, good standard of living, Galleria market has good meat and cheese and other goodies. And a lot of expat crowd in these 3 complexes

Hi MrBuh0... Welcome to India.
How has your experience with the Relocation Company been. Could you please share the contact of the Relocation Company if theyr worth recommending. I have friends relocating from SL and some professional relocation assistance would be great.
Thanks
