My son and I will be traveling to Northern India in March. Does anyone have experience with an expat who is also an experienced guide? We've had pretty good luck in other countries with expats who know the local scene and can help foreigners make the ... "transition."
Thanks |

So many guides in India. Qualified, experienced guides with good knowledge of English and goodness-knows-how-many-other languages.
Support the locals; use local guides. Why not? |

Well, not me, but your friendly local travel agent will have, either in USA or here in India. probably a lot cheaper to find one here, fewer middle mento make a margin for a start.

I haven't even looked at customary prices for guides yet.
You have a wonderfully informative website. Do you also have guiding experience? Thanks. |

I was joking!! Though I am thinking of doing some guiding as work, in the future.
I don't have guiding experience but I do have plenty of travel expereince in India and reckon I know a thing or two about the country!! |

My first trip to India: 1997. I was scared to go out the hotel without a guide arranged by my UK travel agent.
Now, just a few years later, I live here. We all have to start somewhere ![]() |
