OK, well I am certified as an ESL teacher, as my master's is in linguistics.

There are a million schools here in bangalore that teach english... some are reputable, some are not. If you are in the city, you could probably just drive around and see approx 10 places in 30 mins. I would just walk in and see what the place is about.

Some places are designed to prepare people for the TOEFL, and some are more casual "conversation" classes.

I apologize ahead of time for saying this if you have taught before (and if you have, you know what I am saying) but please only consider teaching English for TOEFL if you are certified and understand the test. People who are taking it need to pass it to gain entrance to a school or a foreign job. It takes more than just a passing knowlege of English to prepare ppl for the test. You should be certified to teach even if they do not ask you for it (they may or may not).

Conversation classes are a different thing altogether. If you can speak English well, you can probably teach the class.

But if you haven't taught ESL before, understand that it can be challenging. And rewarding. If you have taught ESL... my apologies and my repect, too. It's a tough job, but one I liked a lot when I did it.

Actually I have an extensive background in teaching English and am looking to be brought over to work in a multinational company. What I need to know is who's hiring and how do I contact them. I've searched the Internet but only found one placement company named Spectrum. Are there others?

Why dont you try logging into the websites of international call center's like Accenture, Aol, convergis, Dell etc etc etc which have offices in bangalore and check their recruitment column in india. You can find many jobs for trainers.
