OP's 'current girlfriend' (mythical) can be in another country, State etc. Not necessarily in the same city. It sounds from OP that the COO or whoever, the HR Head seem to be in different locations anyway. Shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Lot of love (lust) going on at first sight in the world!!!

Now that could work. I thought with the HR trying to introduce the girl to the OP that they might be in the same location or nearby at least. But could be a 'photo' introduction.

Here's an idea for the OP: tell your colleague that your parents have just informed you that they have someone in mind for you!

I'm sure he will be very satisfied with this

If the subject of your continuing non-marriage arises later, it can be shrugged off by saying that the girl was not suitable...

Weired stuffs!!
IMHO being direct is better than diplomatic in such matters.
Tomorrow COO may try to _help_ again in some other matters. Close it now.

INDJUN!!!

first, all of us at IM are trying to get you 'socially' active in bangalore - and now you have one in lil bows an ribbons right on your doorstep!!!

be careful what you wish for indjun - be careful!!!

about your present quandry:
i agree with captain neel nip it in the bud... swift and clean. i doubt they'd hold it against you if you tell them - 'i am not wanting to get married right now... very kind of you, i am most touched with your concern, but no thank you'.

do not meet 'her' - just in case you do lust for her - you WILL HAVE to tie the knot. if she lust's for you [and it aint reciprocal] you will need more than IM to help you out there!!!

Folks, thanks for your responses. I think I will just have to find a way to be polite and refuse. I don't want to tell them I have someone, cause I will be making efforts to meet folks there and if they should ever see me with different women over the course of the year, they will wonder.

But I am a bit curious...

It's time to brush up on your Oscar Wilde with a dusting of Machiavelli. Take trivialities with the utmost of seriousness while treating earnestly important matters with a light touch. Demand with tyrannical ferocity that your friends reveal who does their hair while laughing off the matchmaking.

Done with aplomb (and a bit of luck), you can get them backed off of your private life while keeping them as friends and colleagues.

Hi Indjun

(My comments are based on the recent experience of accompanying, emotionally-speaking, a UK-based Hindu friend on a 2-3 year journey towards an arranged marriage)

I wonder if you play up your point about REALLY wanting to get to know the girl first, slightly(?) emphasising your Miami/US/?"Western" background ... any suggested introductions might just quietly cease?

But good luck if you do find your life's partner, in the meantime.
