cheap mobile handset?

hi everyone,

i'm wondering where i should go to get a cheap mobile handset in delhi, and how much i should expect to pay. i don't need anything flashy...

There's a mobile phone shop on almost every street of every town in India.

For a cheap new handset you should pay Rs.1500/- to Rs.2000/-

This will be a basic model, and may be quite old fashioned by Western standards.

Nice shiny new models are available but cost a little more.

I bought one phone for Rs.2500/- (it is a very small Panasonic A100 triband) and another for Rs.3500/- ( an LG RD-2230 on Reliance - it is a CDMA phone that I use for connecting my laptop to the internet and the SIM card is built-in and cannot be changed).

The nokia 1100 is very popular, and actually a very decent phone (my g/f, her mother, my mother, three of my friends here and I have one, and we're all very happy with it)
At national market here in Bangalore they sell for 2000rs, and with some bargaining you'll get a sim card and credit with it as well.

oh yes if u want cheap thing that lasts long and has basic features then get nokia 1100 .. made just for indian conditions ... but thats a GSM fone
