Exclamation Calling on all Americans in India

If you are an American citizen living in India, this is to alert you that the US Treasury has just issued new guidelines on how much of your housing costs could be deducted against taxes. They have listed a new set of countries that they feel are high-cost from a housing perspective but excluded India entirely. What this means is that only $11,536 per year can be excluded from income taxes on the first $24,720 of housing assistance, and nothing above that, even if you are paying or your company is paying for your house rent.
I suspect many of you pay more rent than this in Delhi (those of you who don't please don't react to this part).
See full details of the guidelinies at (http://www.treas.gov/press/releases/hp133.htm)
Anyway, the US Treasury is seeking comments from US citizens and there is some hope that if enough people weigh in, they could include high-cost places like Delhi and Mumbai.
Please email your comments to notice.comments@irscounsel.tre as.gov and include notice number (2006-87)in the subject line.
Thanks
Raju

Health care and welfare stuff? Pfft! Who needs that? We get whole countries for our tax dollars ... or at least the bombed-out, completely destroyed and disfunctional shells of whole countries ...

Sigh.

Compared to our particular "Uhmurrican" brand as currently practiced, British Imperialism, in retrospect, is starting to look almost good. How sad is that?
