Are you looking to buy the computer in India or overseas? You won't get much for 15,000 rupees.

Send a message via Yahoo to greenchutney
checkout ACER, a taiwanese brand which is pretty good. they have an outlet in vashi[new bombay] closeby where you are. they have brochures with prices there locally along with machines you can go and take a look at. also remember that octroi/extra sales tax might be applied for machines you buy in bombay over new bombay. so check into this as well.

there are also bunch of computer wallahs in the shops nearby who will build a custom computer for ya...but the warranty on this might be a bit sketchy.

Namasste,
$300 USD will not allow you to get to much, maybe on line shopping could find a decent deal for you, but do a lot of research so that you can get the most for your money. Have you checked out craigslist for Mumbai I it's like the classified ads in your local paper)

good luck, gregor

what about a second hand one? Some rich kid probably just upgraded and you could buy his old one for cheap?

Just check your local paper.

Stuff doesn't get just thrown away in India: so second-hand prices tend to be highish.

I'm astonished at the second hand car prices I see. I think Indians just refuse to accept the depreciation that has become standard in the west.

I'm not sure about this --- it is just an impression. I feel that an Indian man, buying a brand new car in London, would think it utterly ridiculous if you told him how much it was worth after being driven home!
