Applying for jobs in India
Hi all,
I'm applying for jobs in India as I plan on arriving in August with my boyfriend and staying for a couple of years at least. I am a teacher but seem to have missed the boat on the international schools so am applying to any education-related jobs I can find on naukri. Anyways, I got a reply from a company wanting me to send them my current CTC break up. Is this a normal request when applying to an Indian company? Is it so they know what kind of salary I would expect? I suppose I could talk to my current company to get this figure from them and create a CTC break up, but the cost would be much higher than what I would expect from an Indian company. I'm not sure how useful this would be to them, except to add to the stereotype that foreigners are rich. Any advice on what I can tell them? |

As far as I know that is not common practice.
You may want to try Goa as lots of schools are advertising requesting teaching staff. |

It is not uncommon at all to ask for current CTC under normal circumstances, ie when Indians apply in India.
The main reason is that the employers have a benchmark so they can match expectations with what you are already getting. Can't see it of being of great use when foreigners apply, though I may well be wrong- some (many?) foreigners are coming to work in India on higher salaries than they get back home. It may be a question of 'ask for CTC, then we will see what we can do with it' |

But I can not see much harm in it or do you think there is? |

I don't know.
I would guess there is no harm in this case. Teachers are hardly paid very well in India (my wife is one ) so it is not as if they will be in danger of offering more than the OP is getting right now.As for Quote:
I would say go ahead and tell them your current CTC/breakup and also any other benefits (pension plans, medical benefits etc). At best they will pay you slightly better than they were planning to, maybe. |
