all you need is love (and possibly a marriage permit??)

on a crazy whim me and my beloved man have decided to get married... we'd like to do it in a senic spot around mcleod ganj where we're headed in a few days... trouble is we've no idea how to go about organising the official stuff (we are both-not so proud- uk passport holders, and are planning on staying in the area for at least a month) any tips on how to go about this would be much appreciated, we know it would be easier in delhi but not so romantic...(i don't imagine even wedding garb would put off those persistant touts!)

Clarity needed

What element of the marriage are you looking at ?

The ceremonial wedding in India style (which can be sub divided into a hundred local customs styles )

OR

The legal paperwork of marriage ? If it is the legal document, you would be in for a bit of a hassle as it would be required to be solemnised under the special marriages act for which one of you need to be a resident :-/

Can give more boing legal details if you clarify

By the way all very best for a happy married life

I don't know how to get a marriage arranged in India, even tho i had one, but getting your proof of marriage from the Indian Gov't office could be difficult. My brother in law stood in line for hours & had to bribe someone to get a copy of ours.

On mine, my last name is spelled 3 different ways on the document.
I have yet to take it to USA Social Security office to change my name, sometimes wonder if I'm "really" married in the USA.

If this marriage is "on a whim" and you have no documentation, you won't need to get divorced back in the UK, in case it doesn't work out. However, don't get me wrong, I wish you all the happiness in the world and don't want you to get divorced!

In other words, for legal reasons, you might need your marriage certificate someday, for adoption, for example. Of course you could also have a civil ceremony back in the UK for the legal purposes & your friends & family could enjoy a wedding party too!

I suppose the kind of service Beach gave you a link to will arrange the mariage document for you.

Best wishes, I hope it works out! Happy life together!
