Buses start from Hyderabad city to this place.
I drove once, long ago. About an hour, I think. Not my cup of tea. You can take a virtual (360degree) tour on that site to see if it is yours.

Absolutely not worth visiting. Nothing like the universal studio tours. there are some pretty tame amusement rides, a bus ride through the film sets(which you may not find funny inless you have watched Indian films) and a 20 min show about filming, editing etc.

I took the Universal Studio tour in California in the late 70's. It was better than Ramoji city in the late 90's.

If you're an expat in the city for an extended period of time and have a weekend day to kill...it's worth a visit just to check it off your list. As others have mentioned above, lower your expectations before you go. On the tour you get to visit some of the sets (airport, bank, a typical London street..ha) and you also see some movies being shot. At the very least you'll get a laugh out of some of the "cheesiness" factor...I know we did and that's what I remember most.
If however you're a short term visitor to the city...there are about a dozen other things I'd recommend doing first in H'bad not to mention other weekend trips across India. |

I too visited Japans places and studios. Their charges are exorbitant and they have less place to develop. Ramoji could be visited for its serene and calm atmosphere. May be not for the sake of FILM CITY. Bye |

Ramoji Film City... I went there a few years back, it made me laugh because it was so bad !
As far as "tourist things" goes in Hyderabad, I found the Golconda Fort visit the best thing so far. |

I've been in Ramoji Film City in Nov 2008 and, as much as I love Indian cinema - there is nothing interesting for me there :-( Some film sets, some shows (nothing special), some cafes... I don't think you should go there if you have a limited time in Hyderabad.
