Hyderabad Airport to Home

Hyderabad Airport is one of the best airports in india. Its modern and has a number of facilities.
http://www.hyderabad.aero/

Helpdesk and assitance is available round the clock. You travel options are:

1. Airport bus. This is available just outside the arrival terminal. Operated by the airport aurthorities, these are economical and safe. Round the clock service.

Generally a bunch of autorickshaws and cabs are available at the drop points, in case you want to go further. Insist on using the meter.

2. Radio cabs. A little expensive, but more comfortable. They too are available just outside the arrival gates. Staffed by well mannered helpers and drivers. They are safe since the movement of all cabs are monitored and they are in constant touch with the control room over radio. I think they have a helpdesk at the terminal.

3. Call taxis can be called for. There are a number of operators. Cheaper than radio cabs but then they are not the most comfortable. You would have to walk all the way to the
parking area since these vehicles are not allowed at the arrival gate. Its a bit of a walk.

Popular Metered Taxis in Hyderabad
City Cabs : +91-040-66316000/66316001
Cel Cabs : +91-40-23242526
Orange Cabs : +91-040-55315555/66315555
Call Taxi : +91-040-27901111/55211113/24242424
Fast Track : +91-040-28889999
Call Cabs : +91-040-66251313/66251414

4. Airport pickups. Most hotels and cab operators will arrange this for you. They would be a little expensive. The chauffer would generally wait for you at the arrival gate, with a placard. You will anyways have to walk to the parking arena for the vehicle.

If your alone, the cheapest option would be the bus. For day travel this is the safest too. For night travel, if it drops you at your destination then its ok but if you need to take another transport from the drop point then that can be a bit of a challenge.

The safest option would be the Radio cab or an airport pickup.

Hyderabad is a nice and safe city (as Indian Cities go).
General precautions are: dress appropriate, call up you hotel before boarding the cab to inform them that you are leaving the airport and the mode of transport you are taking. As an extra precaution you can mention the registration number of the vehicle that you are boarding.

Hope this helps.

Have a pleasant stay

ragz: I greatly appreciate your detail reply on Hyderabad airport and the available tranportation options with telephone numbers. This thread would definitely reassure any worried passenger, arriving in the middle of the night -- dazed and confused. Thanks a bunch.

Hey

Just a quick one, I think I know the answer - but just checking that it is OK to get on the airport shuttle buses from its various stop points and travel to the airport on them? Can you get a same-day return? If so, does anyone know the price?

Thanks a lot

The price is 150 rupees each way. You can buy the return ticket at the other end when you are ready to return.

It is better to get on the bus at the points of origin- they don't have any intermediate pick up points, as far as I know, and may not stop if you put your hand out in the middle of the road.

OK, thanks - yeh, I meant getting on at its specific points of origin/drop in the city centre as I imagine it is much easier to get on at the airport than it is at its drop points. I will give it a go at its stop at Begumpet and hope for the best!

Going to the airport, points of origin are much preferred. Many people I know have taken the bus with zero problems, me included.

Airport to City, you can request the bus driver to stop at whichever point is convenient to you en route. THey invariably do.

Anyone travelled by the radio taxis?

Just wanted to check if there is someone who actually travelled in these radio taxis from shamshabad airport to city interior. If so, does the driver know of all the routes with in the city. Suppose i say secunderabad/ LBNagar, would they need us to direct them.

There are 1000+ cabs that operate so the familiarity of the route depends upon the driver that you happen to come across. LB Nagar is a popular destination, it should not be a problem.

I've taken them and the driver's abilities to find the destination vary. I prefer Meru over Easycab, but that's solely due to one bad experience with Easycab.
