"Girlie" personal question ....
Strange question I know, but it seems to me that ladies in Hyderabad tend not to use tampax tampons??
I've looked in Qmart (they sell "o.b" only) & local pharmacies but with no luck. (Will check out Hyper City also) Does any one know where these are sold here? or is it a matter of shipping them out in bulk?? (uurrrgh!) Thanks in advance ![]() |

I have not seen any in Calcutta either. I was told to bring as many as I would need from the US when I moved here.

I've never gone looking for them but I've always read that they are very difficult to find in India.

If you are used to tampons, may I suggest you try a diva cup or a mooncup?
I switched over from tampons to the cup and I'm extremely happy, no more tampons, disposal issues etc. I'm not too sure about Diva cup but the Mooncup delivers to India within 4-5 days. I hope this helps ![]() |

I'll definitely look into that product as tampons, to my best knowledge are not even available or used in this sleepy town of Ferozepur Cantt.
Its embarassing enough to have to go and ask for pads let alone trying to explain to a shopkeeper what a "tampon" is! |

I am going to beat Nick-H on this thread - he does post in large volume!!
Oops, I did go to a pharmacy with my newly-wed wife to ask for tampons - my wife was very shy - I was just cocky (what a bad choice of words, but, it is the best description!!) - the girl at the counter turned red and gave a pack of OB. What is this mooncup? Just curious or maybe I should go to a pharmacy (I have to go to one now since I have a fever & cold) and find out ![]() Cheers Nattusbs |

You can order it online from mooncup.co.uk and get info on the same. I would love LOVE to propagate this in India (India needs it the most in my opinion, pads and tampons are super expensive and fill up the landfills and cloth is just unhygienic unless you have access to hot water and detergent - not really relevant in slums)
If anyone is interested, when I bought mine I got a discount code for about 2-3 pounds. Just pm me, I'll email it across. ![]() |

I use Diva Cup. It was a trip to India that first got me to try it, and I've never gone back to tampons. I too wish it would take off in India (& the rest of the world), so much better than adding to the landfills.

I imagine that my "sign language" in which I am extremely proficient, and upon which I rely heavily would stumble at that hurdle!

TSS is usually due to accumulated bacteria in direct contact with the mucosa of the cavity for extended periods of time (no pun intended
)The cup being of a silicone material that is non absorbent and only acts as a receptacle pretty much nixes this with the exception of bacteria laden fluid sloshing against the mucosa once in a while, either while asleep, or lying down or too full. Considering emptying times should be done at 4-6 hour intervals, the last scenario is unlikely unless a. You're lazy b. forgetful c. bleeding like a stuck pig 6 words - TSS not really an issue with cup. :P |
