FRO Office in Hyderabad
FRO Office in Hyderabad
Does anyone know the address of the Superintendent of Police in Hyderabad? I need to go there to register and get my resident's permit.
there is a thread on this site about somebody's experience there... not too good, from what I remember.
I believe it depends on where you live in Hyderabad. I live in Jubilee Hills so I had to go to the police station near the Charminar. My friends who live near HITEC city had to go to a different police station located closer to HITEC.
Capt-M...I just did this two days ago and it was relatively painless. Providing the comissioner shows up on time AND you hire an agency to help you out, it's pretty easy. Took all of 15 minutes of my time at the office...granted there was a lot of prep work before that.

Well my office is in Malkajgiri and I am staying at a Hotel Baseera, haven't got a permanent place yet. What do you mean you hired an agency?
My company uses a third party firm (ikan.com) to do all the paperwork related to visa registration and getting everything in order to get a work permit...all I have to do is sign a few documents and they fill out all the forms. They also sent someone down to the police station at 9AM to stand in line and get one of the few "tokens" they pass out which determines who gets to see the commissioner and in what order. As the comissioner doesn't usually arrive until 11 or so...it saves me a few hours of waiting.
...In what circumstances?
I never have.
Hundreds of thousands of tourists never have.
If you are an Indian citizen, and your passport is marked Emigration Clearance Required (or, in the case of an older passport, it is not marked Emigration clearance not required) then, depending on which country you are going to, you might have to, yes.

I believe that the expats in my company who are here as residents on an employment visa do have to visit the FRO prior to leaving the country (leaving for good...not just leaving for vacation or a trip).
It's just a hunch, but I think that murthycsn may be Indian, and referring to the Emigration Clearance procedures. Hopefully he'll be back to tell us.
One is supposed to surrender one's Resident's Permit when finally leaving the country.

Not related to any of the previous posts, but ontopic...
I remember reading a short announcement in the newspapers about 3/4 weeks ago that foreigners could now register with the FRRO online in Hyderabad.
No other details were given, IIRC.
