Question 2 months in Hyderabad on business

Hi all,

I will be in Hyderabad for 2 months, staring early November until the end of the year. I have all inclusive contract, which means I get money for all of my expenses, but I need to do the booking myself. My job will require traveling around Hyderabad and near by villages so I would obviously need a car. Looking at some sites, I noted that there are car rentals which provide drivers for 8 hrs/80 km. In the gas in this case included in the price or not?

Due to the nature of my travel, I would most likely need a driver for 12 hrs since India drives on the opposite side, and I am not willing to experiment!

Is it possible to rent a self driven car and than hire a driver? What places would you suggest for a long term car rental? (59 days total). What is the estimate rate the drivers would charge for 12 hr days? Are there drivers with own cars that I can hire? Any help in this regard would me much appreciated.

Yes, I don't think they charge anything extra for gas and it is included in the price. Renting a self driven car might be possible, but I guess it would be a bigger hassle than renting a car with a driver. Rental agencies/providers might ask you to pay some amount in advance if you're booking for a longer duration. Would be a good idea to extend the booking only after trying it out for a couple of days. If the services don't turn out to your liking, you can always look out for another option.
MISSING: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?

Please look at the thread and help find Jonathan. You might have seen him or have some valuable clues to his whereabouts.

Thanks. Is it possible to have the driver be available for more than 8 hrs?

Anything is possable in India & talking from experience i dont think you will have any problems in Hyd finding a driver who will be happy to work as many hours as your happy to pay for,
booking ahead of your trip will no doubt cost more but once your there if the company / driver are not to your liking it will be very easy to find an alternitive

I agree. Booking ahead of your trip or trying to find a driver/agency online is very likely going to cost you a lot more. You can find plenty of cheaper travel agencies around most of the areas in the city. Just walk in any of them and you'll be fine.

Thanks. Any estimate on the cost? The ones I found online are around 30 USD per day for 8 hrs/80km...

Yeah, I think it starts from roughly around $25 for 8 hours. It also depends on the type of vehicle you choose. Also since you'll need it for a long time, if you bargain a little, you might even get it for a cheaper rate

Like others have said, you can hire a taxi from a local travel agency once you are in Hyderabad. It might also be better to do some search on Justdial and get the names of a few travel agencies that have good ratings.

Here are two more taxi operators that are quite reliable and fairly priced
