Worst Toilet Experience

This little village, like a lot of others in Kerala, had lovely houses with overgrown gardens, just set back from the street. It also had very bright street lights!
By this stage I was pretty desperate and every house seemed to have their porch light on; except one!! As my intestines were about to explode, I rushed into the garden, squatted and just as I began to sigh with relief, the porch light came on, the front door opened and the owner of the house came and stood outside! I didn't even have time to pull up my trousers and ran from his garden, with my bum on display, as fast as I could!
As If that wasn't bad enough, he must have been present at the performance, wondering which one of us three "civilised westerners" had shat in his front garden!!!

There was this nice little restaurant on our way to Sunderbans. Was it Gosaba? We had lunch there, delicious fish, and met the very nice and owner and his wife. Three days later on our way back, one of us fell terribly ill with food poisening, just in front of this restaurant. We had to take a rest. They were nice and helpfull and we could use their toilet. That was basicly a little shack attached to the house, with a hole in the floor, wich dropped everything into the river. BUT: Having a look around I got a glimpse into the kitchen next door, with a waiter washing the dishes, using a handpump to get water up from the very same river. 
Was the house big enough to have more than two meters distance between those two pipes? The poor health of our friend suddenly made a lot of sense. Two hours later, three of us were ill, we reached Kolkata just in time and stayed in hospital for one week.

Yes, well, I could go on and on but I won't! Believe it or not, I never get really "ill" on my India trips. It's just that the food is so incredibly delicious that I tend to over eat when I'm there and then my stomach goes into over drive! I start dreaming about the food weeks before I travel. All that delicious vegetarian food, the chapattis and naans and those huge parathas dripping with ghee; lovely!! Not to mention the absolutely fantastic chocolate cakes, lemon meringue pie, carrot cake................ oops, I'm dribbling.
