URGENT NEED TO STOP ROAD MISHAPS
Agra January 29th
The 'KILLER road' - the bypass linking Delhi to Kanpur - has taken its toll once again. Two brothers, Radhey Shyam Gupta and Hari Mohan Gupta in their 50s, were killed on the spot when a speeding truck overloaded with buffaloes rammed into their scooter. The accident occurred near the Kamla Nagar petrol pump. The truck was overloaded with more than a dozen buffaloes, and it was observed to be violating the safety norms for transport of animals. "The truck drivers involved in this illegal trade often move at a high speed to avoid being noticed by policemen and thus turn risky for others on the road," alleged Mrs Krishna Balla, the President of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), of the local Agra Chapter. |
