In the International channels of course. But if they are in any way too sexy (whatever that is) the whole channel gets banned

and the Fashion TV channel in Chennai with western models strutting around in skimpy clothes with cheesy background music is on for WHAT REASON?

educational television?
maybe for comic relief since the posing is always good for a laugh...

I saw her version in TV. She was very cool. good for her i admire her for her wise reaction. both media and these a..h..l
the protesters have nothing to do with India's moral values , it is just the media who inflated this whole event it really shows how incredibly stupid these people could be

Richard gere had talked to shilpa about a dance and that is what he was enacting. (According to shilpa on TV).But what the hell . Whats the big issue. bottom line some losers want money .

If you noticed the political party could not get enough people to protest so they had to get in kids!!There were 20 kids smiling and shouting stuff they didn't know what they were shouting against.

Non of them have done any work for the AIDS cause.

They have the pack of dogs mentality. That means they feel strong in a group. They guys if interviewed individually will break down and apologize. That is what needs to be done. Video shoot all the protesters . Track them down and interview them individually and doing till will prevent them from ever taking part in a dumb protest again.

Funny part is many of these guys have mistresses and stuff and what needs to be done is someone needs to make a documentary on these Hippocrates's.

Also like Merchant said "Suketu Mehta writes about them in "Maximum City." These guy are all about the money .They protest as this is their way to make an extra buck (pay us to prevent us from trashing the city.We pay the cops so you pay us.).

More citizen need to use video cameras to capture these guys after they trash the place and you will see what they are really about. Most need to cash to get drunk that night.

Other examples of Hippocrates
Ministers send their kids to English medium school but protest against the use of English.

FTV has been banned a month or so ago, countrywide, I think. The central government did it.

The 'Indian Womans' Modesty' joke

This is silly. And I can bet that the living room conversations all over India will focus on the kiss ( on the cheek! for heavens' sake). Somehow I am not hearing the movers and shakers talking about stopping the spread of AIDS!

If Indian men-on-the-street turn a blind eye to the alarming rise in AIDS/HIV cases in India, among the lorry-drivers (truckers) in particular - well, guess what! Protests against a imho fun, friendly, cute kiss on an Indian Womans' cheek (!) by a White Man will magically make the AIDS / HIV problem go away.

I comapre this to the endless and nauseating covergae of one sport by the media in India - while the daily tally of dowry deaths and farmer suicides should be receiving saturation coverage.

This is India's shame.

We seem to be right behind Pakistan's bizarre fatwa on the lady Tourism minister who was hugged by her French paragliding jumpers. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...akistan16.html

so true....

but i must thank these hindi news channels for this. i really enjoyed watching that kiss, hug or whatever on the TV.

i often feel that these news channels sponser these protests to fill their hours on TV. 5000 to 10000 for 20 guys for half an hour, plus 1000 for oil, posters etc... Real good Deal

They don't need to as the cash these guys usually get to be good boys are far more than that. And the free coverage give them political mileage.

They still feel they can get away by throwing stones ,trashing cars ,breaking glass .It is only when they learn they are not going to get money to make their beer bellies larger and have mistresses on the sly will these guys (school flunkies) ever stop. If there was an interview with those guys it would show most probably work for the BMC, had got their job even after flunking school.

The media also love it .They don't care about AIDs or the car and damage its all about the story , more money ,more advertising .
