Patchouli in India

Can someone tell me whether wearing patchouli is just a hippy thing? Or do Indians wear it too?

I wear patchouli, but I never saw it sold anywhere where I was in tamil nadu. so maybe your answer is.......no?

You can buy patchouli in oil stores (Old Delhi, Lucknow, etc) but I've never smelled it on passersby.
