I'd have some sympathy if it had been a couple of hundred here, a thousand there.

But this guy was in for lakhs!

As someone else commented, more extortion than just corruption.

And I think you would have less sympathy the more bribes you pay. Especially those in thousands.

I agree. Bribes and corruption are a way of life for so many, but that doesn't mean that we have to condone them. Paying bribes clearly has to be done some times, but I hate the idea that we are going to "normalize" bribes and feel sorry when people get caught.
Even if this was a token arrest, I am happy that at least people will have to be less brazen about taking bribes.
