Hi Lotus Blossom, is just the opposite. The family are not prisoners. On the old times was something quite usual all over the world. The inmates are human beeings as I am. Probably in Guantanamo don't will agree with such a definition of human beeing...

All the best

I thought being in jail was punishment enough, imagine having their wives join them !

i'm just trying to imagine the whole family living in confinement. i guess the family is free to come and go while the husband/father remains imprisoned?

It used to be like that. Was another way to see what the inmate represents in small societies, the punishment was to stay separated from the rest of the people, but at the end the family was also desintregated. In the wars, the family was also moving behind the soldiers.

Is a joke, but probably Shimla is right and a new punishement is coming with it.
