India: A Man's World??

There were times while on the streets of Moga, Punjab when I didn't see a woman in the crowds of hundreds of people. There were other times during our recent ten week journey through India (Punjab, Rajasthan, Varanasi, Bombay, Goa, Kerala) that we noticed that it was mostly men who were out in public. It seems to me that this was true more in the north than in the south. I was also intrigued by the various services offered to men at "saloons" (I think they mean salons) but my list of offerings is limited to: straight edge shave, head or facial massage, threading.....
Two Things I'd like you to comment on and I'd be curious to hear from both men and women:
1. What are your observations regarding men in public in India?
2. Please describe the various services offered to men in Indian salons.

1. They scratch themselves and pick their noses inbetween spitting.

I find Indian society to be unequal, even though Indians try to prove me otherwise.
Even look at the norms of clothing. One bright example. I participated in one hindu ritual on Mahashivaratri with taking dip in water. Women had to be fully dressed, when men were wearing only pants. And it was cold to be all in wet cloths.

The services offered will be Hair cut,Shave,Head and facial massage,hair Dyeing and colouring,hair straightening .

He he I got a great deal more than that. They had just got a fresh shipment of male body products in, I was the guinea pig, moisturiser, anti wrinkle............. it was funny as hell!!

That's true. Also hugging, putting hands to each other back paints pocket, sitting on the knees of one another..
Sometimes it's had to believe that it is only friendship.
Somehow girls are less expressive.
